L’Oréal Paris Made the Cannes Red Carpet Shoppable for India

When the Red Carpet Felt a Million Miles Away

Every May, the Cannes Film Festival turns the world’s attention to the French Riviera. For Indian beauty consumers, the L’Oréal Paris Cannes campaign India had always felt like a moment of pure admiration, watched from afar, felt deeply, but never truly within reach. L’Oréal Paris saw something others missed in this gap between aspiration and access. The brand decided that 2025 would be the year Cannes stopped being a spectacle and started being a shopping moment.

The Insight That Changed Everything

The real creative unlock, for Tonic Worldwide, was simple but powerful. Indian beauty consumers do not just want to watch their favourite celebrities on the Cannes red carpet, they want to wear what they are wearing, right now. Our campaign was built entirely on this truth, turning admiration into action through a bold Nykaa L’Oréal Paris collaboration. Instead of simply broadcasting glamour, we helped L’Oréal Paris make the experience shoppable, discoverable, and genuinely participatory for the first time.

Where the Red Carpet Met the Real Cart

Execution moved at the speed of the festival itself. A dedicated Cannes beauty marketing zone went live on Nykaa, complete with ambassador-inspired looks that updated in real time as appearances dropped on the red carpet. Gamified discovery modules including a postcard hunt and a celebrity look memory game kept users exploring rather than just scrolling. Every L’Oréal Paris ambassador moment was converted into a shoppable beauty campaign asset, from GIFs and banners to videos, ensuring the gap between seeing and buying closed within seconds.

Glamour That Converted Into Real Numbers

The campaign did not just generate excitement, it rewrote the brand’s own benchmarks. Sales surged 10x compared to Cannes 2024, makeup sales climbed 175%, and at peak demand, Hyaluron Pure was selling more than one unit every minute. The Cannes store on Nykaa drew 1.2 million visits, while the broader real-time commerce beauty campaign reached 42.45 million people and logged 46.24 million impressions. Market share for makeup grew by 131 basis points, with overall makeup share rising by 290 basis points during the activation. Together, L’Oréal Paris and Tonic Worldwide proved that when a global moment is made genuinely accessible through smart e-commerce beauty activation, Indian consumers do not just watch, they show up, they play, and they buy
